Kate Chopin-

Kate was born Kate O'Flaherty in Missouri. Her father died when she was very young. She loved reading fairy tales and novels as a child. Her favorite authors were Sir Walter Scott and Charles Dickens. In 1920 at the age of 30, she married Oscar Chopin. They lived in New Orleans. By the year 1929, Kate had 6 children. Oscar died in 1882. His death left her with a debt of $12,000. Because of Oscar's death, Kate suffered with depression. She started writing to heal her pain. Her books were too far ahead of her time and were not accepted. Her most famous writing is called The Awakening. Kate died at the age of 54 due to a brain hemorrhage.
